Also in these days when the entire media is backing the Civil Society, articles like yours offer a refreshingly different perspective. While the arguments against PM's inclusion sound reasonable, I am still not convinced- may be the events of the last couple of years (Manmohan's silence/inaction over 2G, CVC, CWG, etc) are bogging me downHariharan Valadyhttp://valadyviews.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4908993162747549850.post-21395685727386683902011-07-30T12:49:33.793+05:302011-07-30T12:49:33.793+05:30Sure the existing laws are also for us - the peopl...Sure the existing laws are also for us - the people. The Big difference felt, by more and more people, and speedily gathering momentum, is, the starkness of reality i.e. no real or perceived difference the Government has delivered vis a vis destruction of the nations assets/wealth

When the deliverable's get hugely outweighed by corruption (by the people), the disillusionment and disenchantment sets in with the same government we have elected.

This disenchantment begins to take shape in the form of debates amongst sane people, having vocal points of views in public, disruption, and finally prolly giving way to chaos- till a leader emerges. That will address the rot in the system. (partially created by us the people who conveniently turned a blind eye to the negligence becos we were too busy tending to our private lives)

Look at what got tabled yday! Not just the PM the entire Cabinet is out of the Lokpal:)! How on earth can we accept this mockery of a Lokpal bill? And mind you in the 1st place itself, this Bill would not have come to the table EVER had it not been for the social activists ( who the intelligentsia of my Twitter TL constantly is puling down)!

How will our anti corruption systems thrive? They are completely under the thumb of the ruling party! Be it the CBI or the Police...

All I know is, I want a system that makes way for justice to prevail. That punishes the corrupt, that sets examples for people to follow, that sets examples of good governance to be rewarded! And most importantly that understands that they are accountable to the people of this nation

Pardon my ramblings....but thanks to you I have been able to put some coherence into my own thinking:)Meehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03286610719358841350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4908993162747549850.post-22188418613288090042011-07-30T10:55:34.144+05:302011-07-30T10:55:34.144+05:30MUST Say.. Whatte Post.. Really.. I fully agree th...MUST Say.. Whatte Post.. Really.. I fully agree that for a NATION to be free from Shackles of Corruption..(as the corrupt consider Corruption a "Low Risk.. High Profit" activity) We the ppl have to change. It is not that Humans have become any more greedy than in generations past. It is that Avenues to express greed has grown enormously..PPl are becoming too self centred and selfish..as a result.. Corruption is a billion dollar Industry in India..
The need of the hour is to bring in social reform.. to change the mentality of people.. to bring in the importance of hard earned money and not making easy money by indulging in corrupt practises..As far as I have seen and noticed.. these corrupt ppl are highly educated and are very bold too..know very well the loopholes existing in the laws framed and as expected are set free with minimum punishment..Have witnessed such instances at my job place..

Let the Mindset change first..the obsession for minting money the easy way has to be done away with.. only then will the current bill be more effective..My Salutes and respect to all fighting out for the amendment of the bill..May it Work and bring down the levels of Corruption in our Country .. The menace has to GO..HOPEFUL I am..Let HONESTY prevail everywhere in all aspects of our LIVES. I abide by this principle to the core.. but many around me dont..Still am hopeful :)
Keep going Jay..
